Avioane Saab Gripen ale Fortelor Aeriene Maghiare asigura, de la inceputul anului 2014, misiunile de politie aeriana in Slovenia.
Ungurii au preluat misiunea de la italieni.
Ca si in cazul statelor baltice, Slovenia nu detine avioane cu care sa-si poata asigura integritatea spatiului aerian si, fiind membru NATO, este nevoita sa apeleze la alte state din Alianta pentru aceste misiuni.
Pentru ca Ungaria si Slovenia sunt tari vecine, Grifonii maghiari nu vor fi dislocati pe aerodromul din Ljubljana, ci vor opera de pe baza proprie, cea de la Kecskemet.
Incepand cu 2015, avioanele Gripen ale Ungariei ar putea fi dislocate in Lituania, pe aeroportul Siauliai, pentru misiuni de politie aeriana deasupra statelor baltice.
Ungaria are 14 avioane Saab Gripen luate in leasing din Suedia in 2006. Nu cu mult timp in urma, contractul de leasing a fost prelungit pana in 2026.Hungarian Air Force’s Saab Gripen fighter jet ensure, from the beginning of 2014, air policing mission over Slovenia.
